Democrats vote to oust Bauer as Minority Leader

LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- There was quite a shake-up at the state house on Thursday.

A South Bend state representative was ousted as the leader of the Democratic Party.

Pat Bauer was voted out as Home Minority Leader during the caucus in Lafayette.

Bauer faced criticism for leading the two walk-outs in the last two sessions, and for his decisions in the 2012 campaign.

Hammond State Rep. Linda Lawson was appointed Interim Party Leader.

"While Rep. Bauer has done some very positive things over the course of his leadership term, we feel it is time to move forward," said Lawson.

The vote count has not yet been released, but the caucus needed just 21 votes to replace Bauer.
