Deputies investigating gunshot wounds to horses in Hudson Lake
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A detective is investigating gunshot wounds to two horses that were shot while in a pasture last week, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the 7300 block of Emery Road in Hudson Lake on Thursday regarding gunshot wounds to two horses.
The resident told deputies on Wednesday around 4 p.m. he discovered his horse and a horse he is boarding had both been shot.
One horse was shot in the right front leg and the other was shot in the left front leg.
A veterinarian told the owner the horses did not appear to be affected by the wounds and it might be more dangerous to remove the bullets.
The horses were in a pasture that is visible from the road. The resident told deputies he didn't hear any gunshots before finding the horses injured.
The sheriff's office learned via social media a cow in a nearby pasture may also have suffered a gunshot wound, but the incident had not been reported, so it could not be verified.
