The Berrien County Sheriff's Department responded to a large fight at Benton Harbor High School Friday around noon.
Sheriff Bailey says there was a large fight among students in the cafeteria around 12:15 p.m.
Another police official described the scene as "chaos."
Benton Harbor Area Schools sent out a press release to students and their families that explained that the district is committed to safety and security of all students.
The district will implement a new Student Code of Conduct with behaviors and expectations of the students, according to Superintendent Dr. Robert Herrera.
The Superintendent said that behavioral expectations should be enforced strictly and unbiased. If a student should engage in disruptive behavior, he or she could be removed from the learning environment.
The new Student Code of Conduct will be implemented Monday, October 1st.
