'Dog Days of Summer' theme for September's First Fridays in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Downtown South Bend announced the theme for September's First Fridays event will be "Dog Days of Summer" on Friday, Sept. 6 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Organizers invite you to bring your furry friend downtown for a fun night out.

There will be booths with animal rescue groups and organizations who provide goods and services for animals, and the opportunity to dine with your dog at one of the 22 downtown pet-friendly patios.

Organizers say the 100 block of S. Michigan Street will be closed again for the block party.

Attendees are encouraged to grab some takeout from their favorite downtown eatery or First Fridays food vendor.

You can then enjoy your food in the seating area in the street, where there will be other vendors and live music.

Organizers say the fundraiser, Over the Edge, will return to Studebaker Plaza. During the fundraiser, philanthropists will rappel over the edge of the Robertson's Apartment Building to raise money for the Youth Service Bureau.

There will also be an EV display and test drive event at the Gridiron.

Organizers say animal groups/organizations and any other vendors who would like to participate in this event can still register online.

You can also find more information and updates on the official Facebook event page.
