Dreaming of a White Christmas? Keep dreaming, the melt continues
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Michiana started off December snowy and cold, but it seems the dream of a White Christmas won’t be coming to fruition this year. Although there is hope for one every year, they’re typically few and far between.
The most recent White Christmas was in 2022, where South Bend had three inches of snow on the ground on Christmas Day. Within the last 10 years, there have only been three other snowy Christmases—2020, 2017, & 2016. While there is still a decent amount of leftover snow on surfaces now, rain showers later today will aid in melting.
Above average temperatures will also limit the chances of seeing a White Christmas. Warmer air will arrive in the week of Christmas, with highs above freezing and even reaching the upper 40s. So, unfortunately, Heat Miser will be dominating Christmas this year.
