Driver charged in deadly crash on Michigan Street pleads guilty
SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Dylan McDaniel, 26, was in court for his role in a hit-and-run accident which left 54-year-old Ronnie Blue dead.
On Wednesday, McDaniel pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a class 5 felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
In August, McDaniel hit Blue with his car on Michigan Street before fleeing the scene of the accident.
The next day, McDaniel turned himself into police, telling them he originally believed he hit a dog. It was not until he saw news outlets reporting the accident that he connected himself to the hit-and-run.
While turning himself in, police officers found a Clonazepam pill in his pocket – resulting in the added charge of possession of a controlled substance.
McDaniel’s sentencing hearing is set for February 2nd, 2019.
