Driver injured after losing control on wet roadway

MIDDLEBERRY, Ind. - A 29-year-old man from Goshen lost control of his vehicle, causing him to hit a tree while heading westbound on County Road 18, just west of County Road 33, according to Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

According to the report, at around 4:14 p.m., the driver lost control on the wet roadway and proceeded to slide off the northside and strike a tree, causing severe damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, the driver had complaints of head and back pain.

The report states the driver was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was given citations for driving too fast for roadway conditions, no valid driver's license, no seatbelt, and no insurance, according to Officers.

Officials report that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this incident.
