Driver killed in crash on CR 687

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- A driver died at the hospital after crashing his car into a tree Wednesday morning, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the 7000 block of CR 687 in Geneva Township around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The investigation revealed the driver of a 1998 Cadillac was traveling southbound on CR 687 when his car left the roadway and struck a tree.

He was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo where he was later pronounced deceased.

Deputies have not released the name of the victim, a 30-year-old from South Haven, pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.
