SOUTH BEND, Ind.-You can take a trip around the world tonight right in downtown South Bend. That’s the theme for “First Fridays” where you can enjoy some delicious food and fun activities.

South Bend Latin Dance will be hosting a Latin Social Dance in Studebaker Plaza. Beginner lessons take place at 8:30 P.M., followed by a dance party at 11. The dancing will continue at Cinco 5 until 2 A.M.

First Fridays will coincide with Summer Restaurant Week, which ends on July 9th. You can bite into some delicious Italian, Irish and Mediterranean foods. Places like Tapastrie, Cinco 5 and Fiddler’s Hearth offer a value-priced three course menu.

At 10 P.M., a fireworks presentation with the South Bend River Lights will take place.

“We usually do a Fourth of July theme for July, but because it’s the weekend after, we’re celebrating not just our country, but all countries,” said Kylie Carter, the Events Coordinator for DTSB. “We’re made up of a lot of different cultures here in South Bend, so we want to celebrate all that we have going on here,” Carter said.

The party doesn’t stop on Friday.

Every Saturday morning until the end of September, you can break a sweat with free fitness classes on the Gridiron downtown. For more information on classes, click HERE.

When the sun goes down Saturday, grab your popcorn and enjoy a screening of “The Goonies” on the Gridiron. The movie begins at 9:30 P.M., but if you come at 7 P.M., you’ll find some free themed activities.

“You can dress up as your favorite character from the movie because we’re having a truffle shuffle contest, a plank you can walk and you can dig for buried treasure,” Carter said.
