SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Winter storm or not, a sellout crowd still packed Purcell Pavilion to see Notre Dame men's basketball take on its second top-five opponent in three days.
It didn't work out so well against No. 3 Virginia on Saturday, and against No. 2 Duke Monday night, the Irish suffered largely the same fate, falling 83-61.
The Blue Devils are perhaps the greatest show in college hoops this season, boasting the top three recruits from the most recent class. Those three freshmen - Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett, and Cam Reddish - combined for 56 points in the blowout win.
"You gotta give Duke credit," said Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey. "I don’t know if I’ve seen individual gifted talent come through our building at multiple spots. We stuck our noses in there and that’s what I wanted to see. I knew it was going to be an uphill battle to beat them, but maybe that’s something we can build on this week.”

Notre Dame is next in action against Boston College on the road this coming Saturday.
