Elkhart Education Foundation and Henkin Music Fund award funds to Elkhart High Marching Band
ELKHART, Ind. - The Elkhart Education Foundation and the Henkin Music Fund Committee were excited to award $3,400 to the Elkhart High School Marching Band to purchase speakers, Friday morning.
The speakers will be used to “provide sound reinforcement in the fall as well as for the winter percussion ensemble in the spring”, as stated in their application.
The Henkin Music Fund is given in honor of Daniel and Mary Henkin, who purchased the C.G. Conn business in 1980, and with that, often promoting school music programs, as well as encouraging young musicians.
The Henkin Music Fund was established through the Community Foundation of Elkhart County by the Henkin Family “to help others learn more about what Henkin loved”.
The funds are used for the purposes of supporting music programs in Elkhart Community Schools.
“The teachers here are teaching you how to be good humans, about being better and sharing that with the world,” said Juan Carlos Alcaron, Director of Education for Elkhart Education Foundation.
On hand to present the award Friday morning were several EEF Board Members and Staff as well as EHS Band Staff and Mark Mow, Superintendent.
