ELKHART, Ind. -- An Elkhart man faces multiple charges for the alleged sexual assault of a child.

19-year-old Carlos Cruz Hernandez was taken into custody on June 23.

Officials say the alleged victim told an adult that alleged repeated sexual assault began about four years ago. The victim allegedly told investigators that they were assaulted more than five times since the first incident. 

When officers arrived on the scene, Hernandez allegedly told them the victim's statements were true.

His initial hearing is tomorrow, June 30.
