Elkhart man sentenced for violent assault

An Elkhart man received the maximum sentence possible for an aggravated battery that happened on December 18, 2014.

Eric Conran entered the victim's home through a window and repeatedly kicked him in the face.

When Conran left the home, the victim ran into the street and flagged down a Goshen Police officer.

The victim suffered multiple face and jaw fractures.

Conran pleaded guilty as charged on June 29, 2015.

During sentencing on August 3, the prosecutor cited Conran's criminal history, including three juvenile adjudications, 8 misdemeanor and 3 felony convictions in her request for the maximum sentence.

The judge sentenced Conran to the maximum of 16 years in the Department of Corrections. He will be incarcerated for 10 years, then given an opportunity for work release for 4 years, then probation for 2 years.
