Estate of Edith Schmucker awarded $1.75 million in wrongful death lawsuit

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - An Elkhart County Court awarded over $1 million to the estate of Edith Schumucker, the driver killed in a two-vehicle crash in August 2022 that also killed U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski.

Her estate will get $1,750,000 in total.

Schmucker’s family said they planned to file a lawsuit in September 2022. Schmucker left behind a 17-year-old son.

The August 3 crash on State Road 19 also killed Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson, two of Walorski’s staff members.
