SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- People looking to live in South Bend will now have more affordable housing options to consider.
City leaders celebrating the completion of three new duplexes on the northwest side of South Bend with a ribbon cutting today, made possible thanks to the work of a local construction group, 'Inner City Development'.
"It's exciting to have folks who are born and raised in South Bend, no South Bend committed to helping move our city forward," stated Mayor James Mueller.
Two families will be able to live in each duplex at a time, cutting the rent in half to help with the affordable housing shortage in the area.
"Me and my partner rode those streets a lot as a kid, and so it only made sense for us to understand and then we provide a solution to a problem that we've seen since we were kids," stated Head of Development for Inner City Development.
