Family gets stolen savings bonds back 30 years later

LEBANON -- A family's savings bonds were returned over 30 years after they were stolen.

A couple living in Lebanon found the documents 15-years ago in their barn.

They have searched for the family since then, but were unsuccessful until recently.

The bonds were stolen from the family's safe back in 1980.

"I was actually very nervous to call them because I was afraid they were going to hang up on me," said Angie Ranney, who found the savings bonds.

Those bonds are now worth $70,000.

The thief was never found and police don't know how the savings bonds got inside of that barn.
