Opening day set for May 12 at farmers market in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — A new farmers market will be coming to the city of Mishawaka this summer.

Mishawaka Parks and Recreation will be hosting the open-air farmers market at Central Park. The season begins on May 12 and runs until Sept. 8.

Farmers market hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.

The schedule for opening day is as follows:

  • Market opens at 11 a.m.
  • Free strength class offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Hear from local vendors from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Market closes at 3 p.m.

Cooking classes for children are available courtesy of the St. Joseph County Department of Health. The market will also offer free strength classes by Love & Strength Fitness and the South Bend Roamer.

A spokesperson for Mishawaka Parks and Recreation says that Central Park was chosen for its centralized location next to Riverwalk. As thousands of visitors come to Central Park, its believed the farmers market will attract even more visitors to the area.
