Fatal snowmobile accident in Hagar Township
HAGAR TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- First responders were dispatched to a fatal snowmobile crash at approximately 1:37 a.m. Saturday morning.
A call came in regarding a snowmobile crash in the wooded area near the 4700 Block of Carmody Road in Hagar Township.
Responders were guided to the body of a 43-year-old Owosso woman.
Initial investigations suggest that the female passenger was ejected from the snowmobile and suffered a fatal head wound.
The 41-year-old Owosso driver sustained serious injuries to his pelvis and back. He was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and is in serious but stable condition.
Officers say the driver and passenger were not wearing helmets.
A preliminary investigation suggests that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
Names are being withheld pending family notification.

The investigation is ongoing.
