Fire crews battle vacant house fire in Warren Twp.

WARREN TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- Flames ripped through a St. Joseph County home Tuesday around 12:30 a.m. on Kenwood Drive.

It happened in Warren Township. Five departments were called in to help put the fire out. Crews say the home is old and vacant and needed a lot of water because the fire was so large.

It took 15 minutes to get things under control.

“We knew it was vacant and given the fire involvement there was no need for anybody to go inside and risk their life,” said Steve Downey of the Warren Township Trustee and Fire Department. “So fortunately no firefighters or anybody else got hurt tonight."

Fire officials also tell ABC57 News the home has caught on fire several times before and the home has been destroyed.
