After closure in 2020, YMCA reopens in downtown
SOUTH BEND, Ind.—On Tuesday, for the first time ever, the South Bend Common Council and the South Bend Community School Board will host a joint meeting.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on February 25 at Nuner Fine Arts Academy. The public is invited to attend.
Councilmember Troy Warner and School Board President John Anella were live in ABC57’s studio on Tuesday morning to discuss what the two groups hope to accomplish by meeting together.
Both said that the meeting comes as both groups are joined by new members, along with the addition of a new superintendent and a new mayor.
“There’s a lot of energy and we want to keep moving our community forward,” Anella said.
Anella said the historic meeting comes at a time when both groups must work together and leave “the past in the past.”
“The health of our schools, our city depends on good schools to grow and continue to thrive,” Warner said.
