First Fridays in Goshen celebrates a birthday tomorrow

GOSHEN, Ind. -- In celebration of 19 years of First Friday's programming and incredible community participation, the city is throwing a downtown birthday bash for the ages.

The afternoon and evening of Friday, June 5, everyone is invited for major highlights like Wrestling on Main, live entertainment, cake decorating classes, along with all the food and drinks that will be available. 


Some of what visitors can expect to find in Downtown Goshen tomorrow:

The Silver Circle, a dedicated space designed as a welcoming gathering place for older adults. The Silver Circle creates an inclusive, comfortable environment that blends resources, connection, and entertainment in one centralized location. 

This month, senior folks can enjoy a free birthday treat provided by Pastries by Steph, to the first 50 seniors, tunes provided by Vinyl Habits, and a birthday card decorating area hosted by Young at Art from 7 to 8 p.m.

Young adults can enjoy free activities, including cupcake decorating, at the Chill Zone presented by Boys & Girls Club of Elkhart County and DJ Construction.

Parents and guardians can enjoy the Goshen Health Mother’s Tent, which offers a comfortable space to nurse and change the little ones.

Visit Fables Books for Meet the Authors from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wellington and Weddell's 100th Year Anniversary Party for a sunglasses trunk show highlighting a variety of vendors and giveaways. 

Fused 508 will be on the festival grounds, offering $10 off permanent jewelry, and DN3D Prints will have new keychain options, new clickers, and a new line of super ultra tinies. The Goshen Historical Society is celebrating 25 years since they opened their doors and 45 years since their formation, so stop by to get $5 off membership.

Stop by the Loveway space to visit with Teddy, their resident miniature pony, or test your skills at the Viewrail Obstacle Course. Then head over to ADEC’s booth for a guessing game and coloring pages or paint your own pottery with The Hunny Pot Studio.

If you get hungry or thirsty, you can cool off with a Blended Horchata or Cookies n Cream Milkshake from the Electric Brew or get a free soda at the Wild West Soda Truck, or head to Cortado for their French Twist: a toasted, buttered croissant filled with Crystal Springs vanilla ice cream, homemade hot fudge, and whipped cream, topped with a cherry.

Watch for live wrestling in the square, and don’t miss your chance to ride a mechanical bull or shop the Well-Crafted Artisan Showcase. Other highlights include balloon animals, face-painting, candy, magic shows, and a bounce house.

Downtown streets will close at 1 PM, so please plan your routes accordingly, and check the web map for areas of closure. There is accessible handicap parking conveniently located right behind the Silver Circle gathering space. local riders are encouraged to go green by riding their bikes and parking for free at the secure Bike Valet station!
