ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A “mobile memorial” drove through the Elkhart County Fair Grounds on Thursday honoring of those who died serving the community.
“Pulling for our Heroes” is the group that organized the memorial, and they drove a truck to the fairgrounds featuring the names of those fallen first responders.
“As people see it there are a lot of people that are moved by it. They see the back of the truck, they see all those people who have given their lives. Giving them that recognition as well as that awareness of – hey, these guys matter, they put their lives on the line every day for us,” Jason Bailey said, the EMS Medical Director for Elkhart County.
The truck has been displayed at the Elkhart County 4-H Fair throughout the week, and the group says they want to do something similar at the Nappanee Festival.
The mobile memorial is part of an effort to show appreciation for men and women who have lost their lives while serving the community and to raise money for equipment.
