First school with meatless menu

QUEENS, N.Y. -- The first meatless school cafeteria in the country is located in Queens New York.

The idea for a vegetarian cafeteria stirred up controversy at first but now school officials say the kids are eating it up.

"It was never really initially about the vegetarianism as it was about helping them understand that there are more choices out there," said Principal Bob Groff.

Since the switch to a vegetarian menu this spring the school claims to have fewer students classified as overweight and obese and more students are making it to class every day.
