COLOMA TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- Coloma Township Police Department reports they were dispatched to a call around 10:41 a.m. on May 7, for a body that was located in the lake.
Officer's say a fisherman that was out on Little Paw Paw Lake noticed a single small boat floating with no one inside near the south corner of the lake. The fisherman drove over to the boat and noticed a male body floating near the lily pads and immediately called 911. The fisherman then was able to get the body to a nearby dock where he met with officers.
Officers were able to identify the man as, 64-year-old James Karklau of Benton Harbor. Family was notified, and after an investigation it was determined that Kraklau was out fishing by himself and fell into the lake. An autopsy will be scheduled at Western Michigan Medical Examiner’s office and foul play is not suspected.
