FLINT, Mich. -- A community said goodbye to a soldier from the Flint area killed last month in Afghanistan.
Army Private First Class Shane Cantu died Aug. 28 after insurgents tossed an explosive over a base wall. He had only been there for a short time.
The 20-year-old was a starter on the Corunna High School footbal team.
A service was held Monday at the high school football field.
Former classmates and those who did not know him turned out for the ceremony.
