Food Bank is making sure no one goes hungry on Thanksgiving

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Food Bank of Northern Indiana is hosting multiple mobile food distributions in an effort to make sure everyone has a meal on Thanksgiving. The distributions happen November 23rd and 24th across Michiana.

At this time of year, the Food Bank usually gives away frozen turkeys but the pandemic has caused many stores to be unable to donate them.

The Food Bank is looking for monetary and food donations as well as volunteers to help give out the meals.

“We know that we’re going to see this increase need for quite a while. We’re heading into winter and we know, again, that the people who need our help really will continue to do so,” said Marijo Martinec, Executive Director and CEO of Food Bank of Northern Indiana.

The distributions will be as follows:

Monday, November 23

  • 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. EST in Marshall County at Webster Elementary School
  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. EST in Elkhart County at Concord Mall

Tuesday, November 24, 2020

  • Noon – 2 p.m. CST in LaPorte County at LaPorte Salvation Army
  • 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. EST in St. Joseph County at Kroger on S. Merrifield Avenue
