Food Bank of Northern Indiana receives massive bread donation

SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- The Food Bank of Northern Indiana is at it's busiest time during the holiday season and with the need for food up by 50%, the demand is greater than the supply!

On Dec. 14 they received some welcome relief from Aunt Millie's Bakeries based out of Fort Wayne. Aunt Millies donates 64,000 loaves of bread each year throughout the Midwest, totaling $218,000.

The donation to the South Bend Food Bank was about 2,400 loaves, which is enough to make about 29,000 sandwiches!

The South Bend Food Bank works with 185 member-agencies, like soup kitchens, shelters and food pantries across six counties in Indiana. The bread will be distributed to the agencies and then passed out to clients based on need.

If you'd like to help with the food bank, they are always in need of donations and helping hands. Check out their website at: Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
