'For the Love of Leeper Park' campaign to rebuild tennis center in honor of South Bend player's legacy

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- "For the Love of Leeper Park's" kickoff campaign is raising funds to rebuild the Leeper Park Tennis Courts and Center.

The campaign is not just about restoring a local landmark. It's also about honoring the legacy of a young tennis star, David Filer V, whose life was tragically cut short by brain cancer.

The campaign's goal is to raise $1.5 million to rebuild all 14 tennis courts and renovate the clubhouse.

Sunday's event will feature free tennis activities for families, including games, food trucks, and prizes.

Later in the day, there will be an adult tennis social, with appearances from players from the University of Notre Dame and Holy Cross College.

The event is from 1 to 7 p.m.
