Former ND president Theodore Hesburgh to become honorary chaplain

The US Navy will make former Notre Dame president Father Theodore Hesburgh an honorary chaplain.

Hesburgh will be given the honor outside the library that bares his name on Wednesday.

Hesburgh is now 95 years old.

He served as the president of Notre Dame for 35 years.

He is known internationally as an advocate for human rights.
