The University of Notre Dame is being sued by a former football player over concussions. The lawsuit saying both the university and NCAA knew about the dangers of head injuries and failed to protect athletes.
The former football player who filed the lawsuit is Richard Morrison, Morrison was a defensive and offensive lineman for the 1988 Fighting Irish National Championship Team.
In a class-action lawsuit, Morrison’s wife says he suffers from memory loss, speech difficulty and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy.
In addition, the lawsuit claims that the football program did not have adequate Return-to-Play protocols after a concussion for years.
ABC57 has reached out to the university for a response, but they cannot comment on pending litigation.
