Former South Bend councilman John Voorde dead at 81, per source close to family

South Bend Common Council SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A prominent figure in local politics has died.
Sources close to the family of John Voorde confirm Voorde passed at the age of 81.
Voorde was previously a South Bend city councilman. He was the son of former South Bend mayor Edward "Babe" Voorde.
