Four Winds Invitational comes to a close Sunday, champion named
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Another 18 holes were played Sunday as the last day of the Four Winds Invitational was in full swing.
Golfers were able to get one last putt in as they hope to qualify for the LPGA Tour.
ABC57 spoke to the Head Golf Professional at the South Bend Country Club Greg Helmkamp about the prestige this invitational brings to Michiana.
"One of the other cool things about this being the fifth year, we've got four past champions, all four of them have gone on to have successful careers on the LPGA Tour, which is the top tour for the ladies. And Lilia Vu, who ascended to world number one, was our original champion here in 2021 and Gabriella Ruffels, who won two years ago, is currently in the top 100 on the LPGA Tour. So, it's something that we at South Bend Country Club like to boast about a little bit in the fact that our golf course identifies the top players on this tour," says Helmkamp.
2025 marks the 14th year of the Four Winds Invitational with the proceeds going to Beacon Children's Hospital. It's the fifth year the invitational has been hosted at the South Bend Country Club.
Golfer Leah John ended up claiming her first professional win after being named the champion of the Four Winds Invitational.
