Free family caregiver course offered in Benton Harbor

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -  A free educational course is being offered by Child & Family Services of Southwestern Michigan, Inc. The six-week class is intended for those who consider themselves family caregivers. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a free $25 gift card.

"BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN (01-20-2015) – Child & Family Services of Southwestern Michigan, Inc., (CFSSWMI) through a partnership with Area Agency on Aging Region IV, is offering an educational series for family caregivers.  Entitled “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” the series is designed to provide caregivers with the tools needed to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources.

Classes will be held once a week for 6 weeks beginning Wednesday, February 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.   All sessions will be held at Harbor House Adult Day Services, 2480 M-139, Benton Harbor.

Certified facilitators will lead the educational sessions.  Interactive lessons, discussions, and brainstorming will help caregivers choose the best tools they can put into action to help improve their lives.  Participants will receive The Caregiver Helpbook, which has been developed specifically for the class.  Caregivers who complete the entire 6-week session will receive a $25 gift card.
