After closure in 2020, YMCA reopens in downtown
GOSHEN, Ind -- When the pandemic hit in 2020, the Goshen theater was forced to stop the traditional free movie Fridays, but it's now set to return.
The Goshen theater is no stranger to having a crowd of community residents join them for free movies on Friday but after cancelling the event in 2020, the beloved event is back on.
Starting Friday May 28th, the 70's musical, Grease, will be playing in the theater at 7 p.m.
With the event coming back to town, the local business owners are excited for the traffic it will bring back to downtown Goshen.
"I think its going to be insane. I think people have been itching to get out of the house. Pre-pandemic Goshen’s first Friday’s were – they just drew so many people downtown. It was so great for all the businesses." said Co-Owner of Ignition Music Garage Julie Hershberger.
This event is expected to allow the summer to feel somewhat normal again for the city. Allowing family's to come out and enjoy their evening.
"We’re very excited that the Goshen theater is reopening. They did a lot of beautiful renovations and it looks beautiful inside. Should bring a lot of families downtown." said Co-owner of The Nut Shoppe Justin Bell.
