Freezin' for a Reason fundraiser raises money to keep local families warm

U93 and Martin's Supermarket are teaming up to host the 2nd Annual Freezin' for a Reason.

Money raised from the event will benefit the Home Energy Assistance Team within United Way of St. Joseph County.

That program provides local families support with heating and utility assistance throughout the winter.

Last year Freezin' for a Reason helped 435 low to moderate income Michiana households stay warm.

The event goes until 6 Saturday night at the Martin's Super Market on Ireland Road.

You can also donate online at www.uwsjc.org/freezin.

Martin's will also be selling 12-piece buckets of chicken for $16 as well as fleece blankets for $10. $5 from each purchase (Friday through Sunday) will benefit team heat.
