SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The fourth edition of the South Bend Cubs playing host to the Polar Plunge fundraiser for Special Olympics Indiana took place Saturday.
ABC 57 was a sponsor for the event that saw close to a hundred members of the public turn out to each give 75 dollars in order to jump into a pool of water at Four Winds Field, a display of support for the Special Olympics.
Special Olympics Indiana Director of Programs Buzz Lail said the Polar Plunge brings the most fundraising for the competitions every year.
“This is our big fundraising event for the state of Indiana,” Lail said.
“The money that’s raised by this event helps our Special Olympics programs. (It goes to) training and competing locally, and at an area level.”
Lail said the donations from Saturday’s event totaled at least 20 thousand dollars.
