Wednesday, crews shut down Lasalle Avenue for a gas leak. It was shut down between Michigan and Niles Avenue.
A construction crew hit a pipe while drilling. They say the line was not marked.
The leak started around noon Wednesday.
A nearby law firm was told to take an extended lunch, but no other buildings were evacuated.
"NIPSCO did ongoing monitoring of the gas and found the levels to be acceptable so nothing else was evacuated," said Jim Luccki, Battalion Chief.
NIPSCO capped the gas leak around 1:30 Wednesday.
Lasalle Avenue opened back up shortly before 2:00.
