ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A Goshen man faces a pair of federal child sex crime charges.

The initial hearing for 23-year-old Joseph Rolston happened yesterday, April 29. Investigators say Rolston allegedly began an inappropriate sexual relationship with the victim when she was 15 years old. The two had allegedly been in contact since April 2025. Multiple pieces of evidence were acquired in this case, including alleged text messages between the two, journal entries from the victim, and witness testimony. Investigators say Rolston was allegedly fired from his job after searching phrases related to potential child sex abuse on his work computer.

Rolston's jury trial is scheduled for August.
