ABC 57

GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Goshen Police Department announced one of their officers has been placed on unpaid leave as of Wednesday.

Authorities say this is pending the outcome of an investigation being done by the Indiana State Police, the lead agency overseeing the matter.

GPD has not released the officer's identity at this time.

Details of the matter have yet to be released.

ISP Seargent Ted Bohner confirmed to ABC57 that the Goshen Police Chief requested the ISP Bremen Post to investigate an officer.

Bohner stated the criminal investigation was opened this week.

The investigation remains ongoing.

An arrest has yet to be made, and probable cause has yet to be determined, so the officer's name has not been released.

Bohner said the specific nature of the investigation can't be confirmed at this time.

Once the investigation has been concluded, authorities say all information will be given to the Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office.
