GOSHEN, Ind. – Members of the Goshen school board agreed to new incentives on Monday with the hope of inviting and recruiting more bus drivers to the district.
Those incentives that were approved by the board include:
- A pay bumps for field trips
- A review of the current pay structure (as part of creating more transparency and less complexity)
- A change in driver uniforms
- A special Goshen Community Schools jacket awarded to drivers who are accident free for a certain period of time.
The incentives are intended to address a shortage in bus drivers in the community, and according to an article by Goshen News, the school district is currently down to five drivers on the primary driver list.
The hourly rate for Goshen bus drivers starts at $19.
