Gov. Whitmer declares state of emergency in multiple counties, including St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich.—Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency in multiple Michigan counties on Tuesday due to the impacts of recent high winds.

The declaration was made in Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph counties to address the impacts of severe thunderstorms and winds that occurred on August 11 and 12, Whitmer’s office said.

Through the declaration, state resources will be available for local response and recovery efforts.

St. Joseph County declared a local state of emergency on August 14 following severe storms that resulted in power outages and hazardous debris impacting emergency response and restoration efforts.
