Grant supports construction of walking trail and archery range at Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area
Indiana Department of Natural Resources KOSIUSCKO COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced Monday that it was awarded a $49,377 grant to support the construction of a new walking trail and 3D archery range at the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area.
The trail, planned to be 1.5 miles long, will be set through oak-hickory woodlands. According to the DNR, it will feature lake views and three rest areas. Trail construction is currently underway and is planned to be completed by mid-2026.
The archery range is set to have 25 target stations in an outdoor setting.
The $49,377 grant was awarded by the Community Amenities Program, a countywide initiative designed to enhance quality of life across Kosciusko County backed by a portion of the Orthopedic Industry Retention Initiative's $30 million commitment from the State of Indiana.
“Getting outside and enjoying recreational pursuits like archery and hiking are core to our identity as Hoosiers,” said Governor Mike Braun. “I’m thankful for the partnership between the state, community, and private industry to bring this great new amenity to at Tri-County Fish & Wildlife Area.”
