SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Dozens of free local kids got free school supplies, and a chance to meet one of their sports idols.
Notre Dame Women's Basketball star point guard Hannah Hidalgo gave back to the South Bend community through a backpack giveaway at the Aloft Hotel.
Kids walked away with backpacks filled with school supplies, but also got the opportunity to meet Hidalgo.
"I'm actually very excited, because I've been waiting for this time to meet Hannah, because I like, I get inspired by her," stated fan Neveah Watford.
Hidalgo adds, "Yeah, I think it's a blessing to be able to be an inspiration to the kids. You know, I'm excited that, you know, they're here, and I just can't wait to get back to them."
The giveaway was a part of her 'Hannah's Helping Hands Foundation', providing outreach and philanthropic endeavors to the community.
