Helping Alzheimer's patients through music

A Michiana man with a desire to help others is using his job as a nurse and his taste for music to help those suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Zach Gordon, a Berrien Springs resident, says more than 50 percent of all nursing home residents have some sort of dementia related diagnosis.

As a caretaker at a Michiana nursing home, Gordon took it upon himself to help those suffering with extreme memory loss.

Using the knowledge that music helps those with Alzheimer’s or dementia, Gordon created a device that’s easier to use than the average mp3 player, for the older generation.

“I just have always been driven about creating and innovating and in have several medical devices I  have in my journal and in 2014 I said  I’m going to make one of my ideas a reality something that’s always driven me and a couple weeks later  I  came up with the comfort clip,” says Gordon.
