Hit and run suspect apprehended in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Cass County deputies have arrested a suspect in a hit and run accident that happened near Barron Lake Road, near Cook Road.

The accident took place on Thursday around 8:12 pm. A vehicle was driving northbound on Barron Lake Road. The suspect spotted this vehicle and tried running into it, according to deputies.

The suspect then sped up alongside the vehicle, allegedly side swiping the car and left the scene, deputies said.

Deputies spotted the suspect and tried pulling him over, but the suspect fled from them, ditched the vehicle and ran from deputies, according to the report.

Deputies deployed K-9 Faust and found the suspect a half mile away in the woods in a child’s tree fort, deputies said.

The driver and passenger or the vehicle that was hit by the suspect are uninjured.

Alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to deputies. The suspects name is being withheld pending arraignment in the 4th District Court.
