Homeless teen turns life around, gets scholarship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A Tennessee teen went from being homeless to getting a full-ride scholarship to college.

Drew Gooch was forced out of his house because his mother's boyfriend was a registered sex offender who could not live with a child.

Gooch left his broken home and just showed up at a school asking for help.

He kept his grades, got a job at McDonald's and now has a brighter future.

"Drew is every teacher's and every principal's dream," said Sumatra Drayton.

"These scholarships are everything to me because without them I would not go to school," said Gooch.

Gooch said he either wants to major in pre-law or pre-med.
