Homeowners experience effects of winter weather

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Detroit Avenue in South Bend is starting to look a lot more like spring. All of this past winter's snow has mostly melted, roofs are clear of any obvious problems, but there is one worry left, water.

"This has been a bad winter, normally we get the snow then it melts," saiod Jared McQueen, A&M Home Services owner.

But not this time around. This winter there was more snow falling than melting, causing basements to flood and homeowners to call McQueen.

"Now we're servicing the leaks that were caused by the ice dams on there," said McQueen.

McQueen advises homeowners to take advantage of free home inspections, because if you don't the damage your home due to winter snow could affect your home's value.
