I-94 to close overnight around US 421 starting Wednesday
Indiana Department of Transportation LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- On Monday, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced the beginning of a pavement project and overnight closures on I-94, slated to begin on Wednesday.
Over the course of two evenings from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting on or after Wednesday, weather permitting, lanes will close on I-94 between mile-markers 30 and 36, around US 421.
Following this, on or after Friday for roughly 10 days, the right shoulder and driving lane of westbound I-94 will be closed for resurfacing and the travel lanes will be shifted to the left.
During this process, the ramps at exit 34 for US 421 will remain open.
The work includes resurfacing asphalt on I-94 from 3.09 miles west of US 421 to 0.4 miles east of US 421, restoring concrete pavement on I-94 from 0.43 miles east of S.R. 49 to 3.09 miles west of US 421, and bridge painting on C.R. 500 E, County Line Road, and US 421 over I-94.
During construction, I-94 will keep two travel lanes open in each direction. Lane shifts are planned to be used to accommodate work zones. Additional overnight lane closures will be used as needed to reconfigure work zone setups or for other construction tasks.
