IMP raising level of St. Joe River upstream of hydro plant

Indiana Michigan Power will be raising the water level upstream of the Elkhart Hydroelectric Generating Station next Monday.

The reservoir was lowered two feet in December to prevent ice buildup during the winter.

The water level will be raised over a three to four day period beginning March 23.

Residents who live along the St. Joseph River within 8 miles upstream of the generating station may need to wrap up any work on the river bank before the water raises two feet.
