Indiana animal park welcomes new longhorn calf

FISHERS, Ind. -- An Indiana animal park just welcomed a new addition, and it's a real piece of living history.

Check out this longhorn calf.

The breed dates all the way back to the 1600s.

The livestock manager at Connor Prairie, near Indianapolis, said it's important to keep it alive.

"Living history is also passing on the genetics that are four fathers had worked so hard to develop," said Livestock Manager Kevyn Miller. "There are traits there that breed has that some of the other breeds have lost and we may need to pick those up someday."

The calf's novelty has caused quite the excitement, especially in the animal encounters barn.
